Brandlehow Primary School

Headteacher's Welcome

On behalf of all the Brandlehow Governors, staff and children I would like to extend a warm welcome to our school, we hope that you and your child(ren) enjoy your time with us.

We know that selecting a school for your child is a daunting process and realise how important it is to feel trust in the people that care for your child each day. Each of our staff is highly dedicated and will always go that extra mile to ensure that every child is valued, inspired and engaged.

Each and every day I feel a great sense of pride in the Brandlehow’s incredibly unique and multicultural community of children, parents and staff and how we strive to ensure all children make the most of their abilities. We offer an incredibly diverse and rich curriculum in which each child can excel. Our children are incredibly happy at school and hugely enjoy learning. We want all children to achieve the highest possible standards and make maximum progress in relation to their prior learning. We want children to enjoy acquiring and using knowledge and skills to question and explore, to acquire positive attitudes, to gain independence and to become lifelong learners ready for life in Modern Britain.

I am extremely proud to lead a team that is committed to children's well-being, achieving high standards and providing the very best opportunities for all in our care.  Staff, supported by governors, work hard to deliver a rich and challenging curriculum; to prepare children for future education; and to help them acquire the skills and enthusiasm needed to embrace the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

Whilst we are proud of the high outcomes we achieve by the end of Key Stage 2, I want to acknowledge that our core purpose is much more far reaching than this; we also place great emphasis on developing the whole child through focusing on our school values: CREATIVITY, KINDNESS, GRIT, HONESTY, TEAMWORK and  RESPECT. It’s wonderful to see them flourishing and thriving during their time at school.

As a school we are forward thinking and always looking for ways to improve through training, learning from best practice, partnership working and constantly reflecting on what we do as we improve child outcomes.

Our focus is on meeting the individual needs of every child to ensure they develop the skills they need to reach their full potential and be ready for secondary school. Our aim as a school is to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere in a safe, caring environment, where children will be happy and successful.  To achieve this, it is important that the school and home work together in partnership.  This partnership is built through a regular dialogue between parents/carers, children and school.

We actively encourage parents, carers and relatives to come and support the school. Any time you can offer us to help out would be warmly welcomed. A DBS certificate and a safeguarding briefing is required by those who work with children at the school which can be arranged on request.

Please do not hesitate to contact us regarding any aspect of admission or school life. I look forward to working with you and your child over the coming years.
